Structural Energetic Therapy
This medically-oriented form of structural massage (Structural Energetic Therapy) is a combination of therapeutic specialties that are designed to remove the conditions that cause pain, to provide longer lasting results. The therapist will work with the collapsed areas of the body, which are creating pain when the imbalances are removed, natural healing occurs. Structural Energetic Therapy is a series of treatments which effectively alleviate symptoms of acute and chronic conditions. The practitioner utilizes well-established and tested massage and bodywork modalities to help clients work through scar-tissue restrictions, contracted and shortened muscles due to injury, the restricted tissue that fails to result in healing, and dehydrated muscle tissue that results in imbalance and further restrictions. Each treatment is based on the individual needs.
Structural Energetic Therapy Rehabilitates the Conditions Responsible for Pain

How is SET different – Structural Energetic Therapy is the only therapy that releases the spiral twist in the body long-term, bringing the pelvis back into position for a weight bearing support, relieving stress on the joints, spine, and discs that lead to pain and dysfunction. We apply specialized myofascial (muscles and connective tissue) protocols to release myofascial holding patterns that maintain the distortions.
Structural Energetic Therapy is a full body therapy used to produce maximum rehabilitation from pain-causing conditions and build physical performance potential to its maximum. SET is the integration of Cranial/Structural techniques with specialized soft tissue protocols designed to work together to release the primary core (spiral) distortion and the distortions of sub-patterns, with the ultimate goal of restoring long-term balance, strength and function in the body.
Structural imbalances are responsible for over 90% of our painful symptoms throughout the body and can cause varying degrees of limitations and dysfunctions. A structural weight-bearing weakness at the base of the spine can cause exaggerated curvatures in the spine (scoliosis) and other compensation, weaknesses, and strain patterns in the body.
A SET session begins with an evaluation that includes a written client intake form, a consultation to further assess the client’s condition, and postural analysis. Treatments usually begin with cranial structural therapy to initiate a release of the body’s holding patterns, and begin the rebalancing. After the cranial structural therapy, the client’s body begins to unwind. This often releases enough tension to noticeably reduce spasms and pain symptoms – preparing the soft tissue for more extensive work.
The Core Distortion is common in the vast majority of people. Approximately 99% are born with a basic core distortion or spiral distortion affecting the whole body. Through an accumulation of repetitive motions, poor postural patterns, and gravity, these distortions become enhanced. As physical, mental, and psychological compensations emerge, the body moves deeper into a progressive collapse of this core distortion which results in painful symptoms, conditions, and restrictions.Common Core Distortions and symptoms include one leg longer than another, one shoulder higher than the other, hip or knee pain (often worse on one side than the other), uneven weight distribution while standing, neck pain at the base of the cranium (more often worse on the right side), shoulder pain (typically worse on the left side), low back pain, an unstable sacral iliac joint, and uneven hips.
WHEN THERE IS PAIN, THERE IS PROOF YOU HAVE FALLEN DEEPER INTO THE CORE DISTORTION PATTERN. The visible signs of a deep core distortion (forward head posture, rotated shoulders, high shoulder, nerve compression, one leg shorter than the other) worsen with daily activities, injuries, sports activities, sleeping in a bed that’s too soft and repetitive stresses. Progressively, more serious conditions such as degenerative disk disease, herniated disks, scoliosis, and stenosis can often occur.
